Từ tp. HCM tới điểm tập kết xe cộ chuẩn bị đồ đạc này kia tầm 300km. Cả đoàn phải đi từ đêm hôm trước.
Sáng sớm, mọi người đều đã sẵn sàng cho chuyến chinh phục.

Không lâu sau khi xuất phát, đoàn gặp ngay địa hình offroad. Bụi, bụi ở khắp nơi. Vì đang là mùa khô nên chỗ nào cũng thấy bụi.

Trước chuyến đi, mình khá lo về khả năng theo kịp đoàn của cậu con trai, cũng nhắc mấy anh em đi trước là mình sẽ đi sát với con, và có thể chạy chậm phía sau đoàn, nếu thấy rớt lại thì đợi... Thế nhưng càng đi, càng thấy tự tin, vì cậu nhỏ chạy khá tốt, có mấy cái dốc nhỏ đầy cát thấy vượt qua khá nhẹ nhàng. Hai cha con vừa đi vừa nói chuyện ríu rít, vừa để củng cố tinh thần cho cu cậu, vừa chỉ cách nhìn đường, cách phản xạ này kia và trăm thứ chuyện trên đời.

Biker kỳ cựu của nhóm, anh ấy rất nhiệt tình, một mình chạy từ Nha Trang lên cao nguyên để hứng bụi, bỏ em GoldWing và KTM1190 ở nhà để ôm em bé xíu xiu này :)
Senior biker in our group, really great guy. He was driving alone from Nha Trang to join us, left his Goldwing and KTM1190 at home to have fun with this little 50cc bike:

Còn anh bạn này mượn tạm chiếc xe của thợ rừng địa phương chạy cùng với ACE. Chiếc xe siêu thực này được chế cháo tới tận nóc, chuyên trị đường rừng.
This buddy borrowed a bike from local loggers. This heavily modified bike is very common in this area, best fit for the jungle tracks:

Chiếc KX85 bánh trước nhỏ 17" nên khá khó khăn khi gặp những chướng ngại vật trên đường, cộng với bề ngang của bánh khá hẹp nên dễ bị kẹt, như trong trường hợp này:

Đoàn vượt qua một đoạn khoảng trống, một vài con suối cạn... Một chiếc Honda chuyên nghiệp chết máy giữa lòng suối, phải đẩy lên trên bờ, đẩy rồi đạp mãi mới nổ máy...
Tới một cái dốc khá đứng và dài, anh bạn nhỏ leo lên khá tốt!
We crossed some open areas, some empty and dry stream... A Honda pro track bike died off at the middle of the stream, we gotta pushed up and took quite long time an lot of sweat to make it run again...
We hit the first long and steep hill, my son climbed pretty well.

Nghe bạn bè nói con dốc vừa rồi cũng chưa là gì... hic, hơi bị lo lắng... nhất là cho chiếc xe nhỏ KX85. Trước chuyến đi, hai bố con đã kiểm tra xe khá kỹ, tháo ra cả một mớ thứ để bảo dưỡng cho ngon lành rồi mới đi. Lúc nãy ở cây xăng đã mua thêm 2 chai 500cc đổ đầy xăng mang theo. Một chai nhớt 2-thì cũng được thủ sẵn.
Rồi thì cái gì tới cũng phải tới. Con dốc dã man nhất của ngày hôm đó cũng đã tới. Vừa dốc mà lại vừa cát, chiếc KX cứ leo lên lại tuột xuống. Xe chuyên nghiệp không đề, không chân chống nên loay hoay khá chật vật và mất sức.
Friends told me that the hill we passed just now was not the hardest one. Worried, especially for the KX85. Before the ride, me and my son had tear the bike off for checking and maintenance. I bought some more gas to bring with, and of course some 2-strockes oil.
Then come the hardest part of the day. The hill was very steep, and sandy. The little KX was struggling, as it is without electric start, without kickstand... The bike stalled sometimes at the middle of the hill. My son kinda very tired.

Tới một con dốc có lẽ là dài nhất trong 2 ngày offroad. Con dốc này vừa dài, vừa dốc, có lẽ cứ lên đều đều 60 độ chứ không ít hơn, cả đoàn ai đi lên cũng ỳ ạch, xe nào xe nấy lên rất vất vả. Mấy chị em phụ nữ đi theo phải xuống đi bộ rất vất vả vì nếu chở thêm người thì chắc chắn xe không thể nào leo nổi.
There come a longest climb in two days offroading. This hill was too long, steep, may be not less than 60deg slop. All bikes found difficult climbing up this hill. Some ladies passengers had to get off the bike to walk bcoz the bike sure can not survive the hill two-up.

Mình thấy tình hình không ổn nên ráng chạy lên trước, dừng xe lại giữa dốc để đi bộ xuống hỗ trợ anh bạn nhỏ của mình đưa con KX85 lên đồi. Thật là bất ngờ, khi vừa bước xuống một đoạn thì nghe tiếng xe 2 thì chạy lên rất tự tin. Nhìn kỹ thì đúng là cậu nhỏ đang chạy lên khá nhanh.... mừng hết lớn luôn!
Since I saw the hill, found it was a real challenge to my son and his little KX, I tried to ride to middle of the hill, parked the bike and walk back down to help him. Oh my, what a nice surprise hearing the 2smokers sounds confidently climbing up. None else than my son was riding up hill, very fast, again, can't tell how happy I am!!

Tới con dốc dựng đứng cuối cùng của cuộc hành trình, cả đoàn tắc lại chỗ này khá lâu để đợi từng người xuống một.
The last hill of the trip, it was straight down to the flat land. We were stuck there a bit too long to make sure everyone safe descending.
